Description

Mites Out Solution is a solution used in veterinary medicine as an aid in eliminating ticks and mites in the ears of dogs and cats, in controlling bacterial infections often associated with such infestations and for temporary relief of itching accompanying this disorder. Active ingredients include benzocaine (1.952%); dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate (1.952%); hydrocortisone (0.032%); piperonyl butoxide (0.49%); pyrethrins (0.04%); tyrothricin (0.039%).

Analysis and Justification

Upon examination of each of the components of this solution, benzocaine (local anesthetic) is classified under tariff heading 30.04; dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate (surfactant) 29.17; hydrocortisone (steroid hormone) 30.04; piperonyl butoxide mixed with pyrethrins (treatment for scabies & lice infestations) 30.04; tyrothricin (antibiotic) 30.04.
